Hey There
I’m a third-generation quarry chick with a background in civil, extractives, and heavy transport. I’ve lived the work, not just studied it.

I’m all about straight-up, practical health and safety—no fluff, no clipboards for the sake of it. I help build stronger crews, lift leaders’ confidence, and give you the real info you need to make smart calls based on what’s actually happening on site.

I’m Rachael. Good to meet you.
Want to know more?
I’ve been in the thick of quarrying, civil construction and transport for over 30 years, with boots on the ground and sleeves rolled up. Since 2015, I’ve specialised in Health and Safety—helping businesses make sense of massive regulatory and industry changes without losing sight of what actually works on site. I’m a Professional Member of NZISM, a Technical Member of the Institute of Quarrying, and listed on the HASANZ Register.

My H&S career kicked off in extractives right when the Health and Safety at Work (Mining Operations and Quarrying Operations) Regulations 2016 came into force. That meant supporting quarry managers through the new oral CoC assessments—seeing them grow in confidence and capability still stands out as a career highlight.

In 2019, I joined Kraft Heinz as part of a lean HSE team supporting two factories and over 2,000 staff. When COVID hit, we were essential. We had to keep New Zealand fed and protect our people—fast. The tools I built for site-wide communication didn’t just work—they were picked up by Kraft Heinz plants worldwide.

By 2020, I was back where I belong—civil and quarry. I returned first with a local roading contractor, then joined Fletcher Construction’s Higgins Hawke’s Bay team. When Cyclone Gabrielle hit in 2023, it was the hi-vis crews who stepped up—getting whanau, businesses and whole communities reconnected. Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it.

This industry? It’s tough, it’s real, and it’s full of the best people you’ll ever meet. What we do matters. And I’m here to keep backing you all the way
